Recently Google have started offering webcam video chat support on its famous Gtalk chat service. You can now use your webcam and can have a video chat session with your loved ones though Google have taken much more time to offer this service with their live chat application. You can now use voice and video capabilities in your Gmail chat session, from within Gmail, thus you can now have an actual audio conversation with someone or even chat face to face over video, To use this audio-video gmail chat, you will have to download and install a plugin located at : http://mail.google.com/videochat
Once you download plugin you need to follow following steps to use this service.
- Download the Gmail voice and video chat plug-in from (mail.google.com/videochat) you need to close all browser windows and install the plug-in.
- Sign in to your Gmail account.
- Select the contact name you want to call from your chat contact list within Gmail account. If selected contact name have a camera icon next to their name then you can make a voice or video call to them; you just need to click Video & more.
If your friend contact list member doesn’t have a camera next to their name in your chat list, you can invite them to get this new feature and ask them to download the Gmail voice and video chat plug-in from the Video & more menu in a chat window. Major advantage of this service is that even if your friend doesn’t have a video camera, you can still make a voice call or a 1-way video call.
